Climb the mountain. Cross the lava. Reach the dock at 121.
How to play
Race your peg up the volcano, over the 61 bridge and down to the dock. First to 121 wins, and the game ends the moment someone gets there.
Each hand
- Six cards each. Lay two away into the dealer's crib.
- The non-dealer cuts and the dealer turns the starter. A jack turned up is his heels: 2 to the dealer.
- The play: take turns laying cards and calling the running count. You cannot go past 31. If you cannot play, say Go.
- The show: the non-dealer counts first, then the dealer's hand, then the crib. Every hand counts with the starter.
The play
| Count reaches 15 | 2 |
| Count reaches 31 | 2 |
| Pair / three of a kind / four of a kind | 2 / 6 / 12 |
| Run of three or more, in any order | 1 per card |
| Go (last card under 31) or last card of the hand | 1 |
The show
| Each combination adding to 15 | 2 |
| Each pair | 2 |
| Each run of three or more | 1 per card |
| Flush: four in hand / five with the starter (crib needs five) | 4 / 5 |
| Nobs: the jack of the starter's suit | 1 |
Skunks
Win before your opponent reaches 91 and it is a skunk; before 61, a double skunk. The best possible hand is 29; nobody can score 19 in a hand, so a zero hand is jokingly called "nineteen".
